Unpacking a Life Walkthrough: Where Every Tricky Item Goes in All 6 Chapters
Keywords: unpacking a life walkthrough, unpacking a life guide, where does it go, cozy organizing game help
Unpacking a Life: Cozy Rooms follows Dengdeng through six moves, from her first room at age two to the nursery she prepares for her daughter Yaya at thirty. Each chapter asks you to find the right home for every item, and the last few are always the hardest.
This guide covers only the items people get stuck on and the key items with more than one valid spot. No chapter endings are spoiled.
Two tips before you start
- Read the item story. Tap an item to see a short note about it. The answer is often hidden there.
- Hints come in two layers. The first is a gentle nudge and the second names the area. Use the tables below when both fail.
Chapter 1 · Age Two: A Room of Her Own
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Outgrown Little Shoes | Top-left cubby of the low bookshelf |
| Bunny Pajamas | Low on the wardrobe door |
| "Dengdeng's Room" Plaque | Above the wardrobe door |
| Height Chart | Upright on the empty wall near the window |
| Family Photo from the Old Home | To the right of the child's drawing |
| Plush Puppy | The small gap at the foot of the bed |
Chapter 2 · Age Six: The Room Is Not Mine Alone
Her little brother moves in. Rule of thumb: the bigger left bed is Dengdeng's, the small right bed is his, the middle is shared.
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| First School Backpack | On the floor between the left bed and the bookshelf |
| Clip-On Reading Lamp | Clipped to the left bed, on the side facing the middle |
| Moon Pajamas / Fox Pajamas | High / low on the wardrobe door |
| Toddler Bottle | Top right of the low bookshelf |
| Missing Giraffe Piece | Lower left of the low bookshelf |
| First Sibling Photo | Wall right of the window, visible from both beds |
Flexible: Moon Rabbit works on either bed.
Chapter 3 · Age Thirteen: Don't Decide for Me
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Wooden Alarm Clock | Near the foot of the bed |
| Old Digital Camera | The small shelf on the left wall |
| Old Skateboard | Floor by the door on the right |
| Half-Empty Corkboard | Wall above the right side of the desk |
| Patchwork Pennant | Above the bed, toward the right |
Flexible, and the heart of this chapter: Locked Diary (desk, wardrobe or bedside), Childhood Memory Box (center floor, wardrobe or desk), Moon Rabbit (bed or wardrobe), First Sibling Photo (above the desk or wardrobe), Height Chart (left wall or wardrobe). At thirteen, Dengdeng decides what stays out and what gets packed away, and those choices carry into later chapters.
Chapter 4 · Age Eighteen: Half a Wall of My Own
In the dorm, her roommate has the right side. Dengdeng gets one narrow bed, half a desk, the left wardrobe and half a wall.
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Laundry Bag | Bottom of the leftmost wardrobe |
| Campus Card | Hung in the left wardrobe |
| Enamel Washbasin | Left aisle, next to the desk |
| Enamel Thermos | Right edge of her half of the desk |
| Protective Knot | Her half-wall, near the center line |
| Care Parcel from Home | Floor in front of the left bed |
Flexible: Letter from Home (desk, wardrobe or bed), Moon Rabbit (left bed or left wardrobe).
Chapter 5 · Age Twenty-Three: Just Settle In for Now
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| First Office Badge | Outside of the wardrobe door |
| Dinner Bowl for One | Lower level of the small right shelf |
| Small Electric Kettle | Upper level of the small right shelf |
| Graduation Photo | Next to the print, not right against the laptop |
| Unopened Dinner | The living area in front of the desk |
| Dusty Yoga Mat | The open floor in the middle |
Chapter 6 · Age Thirty: Where Should Bunny Sleep?
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Bird Crib Mobile | Left wall above the crib |
| Changing Basket | Center of the care cabinet under the window |
| Cloth Book Basket | Left side of the care cabinet |
| Sage Swaddle / Memory Patchwork Quilt | On the rocking chair |
| New Family Photo | Wall to the right of the window |
Flexible: Sun Lamb, Soft Cloth Book, Moon Rabbit, Oak Keepsake Box, First Family Drawing, Height Chart and Old Digital Camera each have two valid spots. Dengdeng prepares the room, but the most important choice is left to Yaya.
Why it is worth finishing
The same Moon Rabbit and the same height chart travel through all six moves. Whether you display them or pack them away, they come back in Yaya's room. If you love games that tell stories through objects, see our list of 10 cozy games like Unpacking.
